Passes at credit level in one (1) Home Economics subject (Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles, Home Management), one (1) science subject (physics, chemistry, Biology). This is in addition to the credit in English Language and mathematics.
Departmental requirements for the programme:
Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or General Certificate in Education (GCE) ordinary level, with passes at credit level in at least five subjects, including English Language and mathematics, obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.
The Teachers II Certificate with credit/Merit in at least five subjects, including English Language and mathematics, obtained at not more than two sittings.
Candidates with Diplomas (ABU), Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or equivalent qualifications approved by the University are admitted into 200 level of course this is in addition to the requirements stated in (i) and (ii) above.
For the award of B.Ed Home Economics Education, Students must earn at least 120 credits for those who start at 100 level. For those who start at 200 level must therefore earn 90 credit units. Students can take elective courses in addition to the core ones. However, they can graduate if they have earned the required number of credit units for graduation, and have passed all the core courses.
