B.Sc Physical & Health Education

1. General Introduction

This programme has its admission requirement pertinent to the programme that they offer. And each student has to achieved the graduation requirement before they can graduate.

2. Entry Requirements

Any one of the following qualifications is admissible:

The Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) in relevant science areas including English for admission into the four (4) year degree programme or 5 credits in G.C.E./SSCE O’Level including English, Mathematics and any one Science subject preferably Biology or Chemistry.

A pass at merit level in PHE Diploma Programme (provided the University English requirement and four credit ‘O’Level are satisfied. Those who had pass PHE Diploma from ABU will be considered after 3 years working experience provided they meet ‘O’Level requirements.

Two passes in science related areas at advanced level with SSCE/GCE ‘O’Level credit passes in other subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

Passes in two (2) major subjects of any other combination with Physical education or Health Education or Physical Health Education at the NCE level. There is placement of students after admission based on NCE grades and combination at 200 or 300 levels and at 100 and 200 levels.

3. Graduation & Placement of Students

Since the students will gain admission into the programme with different educational qualifications, the placement of the students will be in three major categories as approved to meet the minimum credits required for graduation of 130 Credit Hours.

CATEGORY A:

Student with not less than C in Physical Education, Health Education and Education each advanced credits of 50 hours maximum.

CATEGORY B:

.

Student with D in Education, C in Physical Education and Health Education will earn advance credits of 46 hours maximum. Students with C in Education and D in either Physical Education or Health Education will earn advance credits of 46 hours maximum.

CATEGORY C:

.

Students with D in Education, Physical Education and Health Education, Diploma Physical and Health Education and any combination with Physical and Health Education as single major will earn an advance credit of 38 or 32 maximum.

Details of the courses for advance credits and courses to take will be decided by the Department based on the curriculum content of the students’ previous institutions.
