B.Sc (Ed) Social Studies

Admission Requirement:

Each section, as listed, has its admission requirement pertinent to the programme that they offer. In DASSE, there are five Sections namely – Arabic Education, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Language Arts, and Social Studies.

Direct Entry:

Prospective candidates are expected to have a minimum of “c” grade in Education and Social Studies and the third teaching subjects. A minimum of Four (4) credits including English Language in WAEC/SSCE/GCE or NECO. These credits should be in Art and Social Science subjects. One credit MUST to be either in Geography, History, Government or Social Studies.

U.T.M.E:

This category of candidates should be having a minimum of A.BU. cut off points for admission into 100 1evel in Education programmes. Also, they must possess a minimum of five (5) “0” level credits including English Language; and two arts and social science subjects – History, Geography, Government, Economics.

Graduation Requirement:

A student must have obtained a minimum of 126 credit units to qualify for graduation.

All prescribed core, cognate and elective courses must have been passed.

Teaching practice must have been undertaken and passed, as this is also regarded as a core course.

The student must have obtained a CGPA of not less than 1.50.
