B.Ed. Arabic Programme

1. General Introduction

Each section, as listed, has its admission requirement pertinent to the programme that they offer. In DASSE, there are five Sections namely – Arabic Education, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Language Arts, and Social Studies.

2. Entry Requirements

The general University admission policy is based on NUC approved admission requirement. Candidates offered admission must fulfil the minimum entry requirements stated against the Faculties into which they are admitted. For B.A Ed. Arabic, candidates may be admitted into the programme either at 100 Level (Regular UTME) or at 200 Level (Direct Entry).

(a) 100 Level Admissions

Candidates for 100 Level admission must have obtained:

Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Arabic and three other subjects in not more than two sittings, in the Grade II Teachers Certificate, WAEC, NECO or SAISS/STQ or equivalent Certificates. In addition to have written and passed UME examination.

Registered the following subjects and sat for the examinations through the JAMB UTME: Use of English, Arabic, and

High enough scores in the JAMB UTME to meet or exceed the cut-off point set for the year in which their applications are being considered.

(b) 200 Level (Direct Entry) Admissions

Candidates for 200 Level (Direct Entry) admission must fulfill the following:

candidates with NCE, A.B.U. affiliate Diploma of Arabic or from any recognized university.

IJMB results/Certificates, with at least C grade in Arabic.

minimum of ‘0’ level passes at credit level, including Arabic and English Languages.

3. Graduation Requirements

A number of provisions are laid down and which must be fulfilled before a student can graduate:

A student must have obtained a minimum of 126 credit units to qualify for graduation.

All prescribed core, cognate and elective courses must have been passed.

Teaching practice must have been undertaken and passed, as this is also ` regarded as a core course.

The student must have obtained a CGPA of not less than 1.50.
